Book review

Throughout this, the first collection of short stories from playwright Deborah Levy, knowledge and intuition, science and love are juxtaposed as conflicting sources of motivation. Each character portrayed embodies a dilemma and enacts a drama in settings that vary from Ibiza to Camden Town, from rural Spain to a precarious rowing-boat. The author is concerned with chaos and loss of hope, with corruption and commitment to finding a truth. She takes our world as it is, as it has been and life as it could be. Deborah Levy is an actress, poet and playwright whose plays "Heresies" and "Ruins" were commissioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company.
